ACCOMPANIST
Maria Angel has performed to critical acclaim in numerous concerts and solo recitals in Spain, Portugal, England, Germany, Austria and United States. She has won first prizes and has been semi- finalist in well renowned national and international piano competitions such as: John Longmire (England), Arras (France), Ferrol international Competition (Spain), TCM Chopin (England), Carlet International Piano Competition
(Spain), Marisa Montiel (Spain), D’Eivissa International Piano competition (Ibiza) , Infanta Cristina Piano Competition( Madrid) Cervantes and
Panama International Piano Competition (Central America), amongst others. She has been awarded several bursaries and has been invited to perform in different concert cycles and summer festivals such as the Fundación Botín, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Winchester Cathedral lunchtime concert series, Wagon and Horses music cycle, Holland Music series, Universidad Complutense summer concert cycles, the Mozarteum summer course, amongst others.
She was selected to represent Spain in the Steinway Piano Festival in Hamburg, together with the International Marathon for Piano and chamber Music held in the Auditoriums of Madrid and Lope de Vega in Sevilla. Maria is an accomplished accompanist, coach, and educator. She has worked at Bath Spa University from 2008-2022. During 2016-2022 she has held the position as a senior lecturer in piano and performance and was also Course Leader for the MA music programme. She is an acclaimed accompanist and coach in the southwest area. She is regularly invited to play as an official accompanist for Music Festivals such as: Vitoria International Music Course (Spain), Bath International Festival, BOIBA, Pro Corda, Jackdaws, Mid Somerset Festival (U.K) and La Mariette String Masterclass (France).
