Encore Music Projects acknowledges its duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and is committed to ensuring its safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and best practice.

Every child, whatever their age, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability or sexual orientation, has the right to a positive and enjoyable experience of music in a safe, child-centred environment, protected from abuse during both musical and non-musical activities. We recognise that some children — including disabled children and those from ethnic minorities — can be particularly vulnerable to abuse, and require extra attention.

Our commitments

Promote and prioritise the safety and well-being of every child
Ensure everyone involved understands their safeguarding roles and responsibilities
Train staff to recognise, identify and respond appropriately to abuse and neglect
Take appropriate action on any abuse, neglect or safeguarding concern, and support anyone who discloses one
Keep confidential, accurate and secure records of any safeguarding concern
Prevent unsuitable individuals from working or volunteering with children
Maintain robust safeguarding arrangements and procedures throughout the course

This policy and its procedures are mandatory for everyone involved with the summer school. Failure to comply may result in dismissal or exclusion from the course.
